DFDL is advising China Southern Power Grid International Company (“CSPGI”) under an engagement with CSPGI’s law firm Beijing Dacheng Law Offices, LLP (“BDLO”) on a possible acquisition of the Nam Phouan and Nam Ang hydro-electric projects presently under the development in the Lao PDR by Velcan Energy Group.
The Nam Phouan hydro-electric project, located in the Province of Xaisomboun, will have an installed capacity of 52MW and the investment value is in the range of USD 80 million. The Nam Ang hydro-electric project, located in the Province of Attapeu, will have an installed capacity of 41MW and the investment value is approximately USD 70 million. The Nam Phouan and Nam Ang HPPs are run-of-the-river projects that, once built, will provide sustainable and clean energy with limited environmental and social impact. The Lao team under Walter Heiser’s supervision will prepare a legal environment overview and due diligence report together with advice on the transaction process and tax structuring.
